LOS POTROS MALAMBO


Malambo is a unique type of flamenco performed exclusively by men. Los Potros Malambo collective is the most famous dance group in Argentina.
In 1999, brothers Javier and Isaac Gardella, bringing together the "best of the best" dancers from Argentina, founded a dance company called LOS POTROS MALAMBO as a family project, with the idea of bringing their choreographic creations to life.

They worked hard to find their way, always in search of their own style. Performing on different stages, they formed the final project and became the most significant Malambo and folklore company in the country. This group of wonderful dancers has a distinctive style in which strength and expressiveness, as well as technique and choreographic richness are wonderfully combined in the show programs of the Gardella brothers.

The Gardella brothers manage to show incredible things in dance, drawing inspiration from folklore, highlighting the basis of flamenco from a complex array of centuries—old heritage, its DNA - a tangle of sounds, rhythms, feelings, energy, expression and power, accompanied by live musicians, give an amazing visual effect.
For more than 20 years of its existence, the band has won numerous awards at many major national folklore and dance festivals.

"Los Potros Malambo" toured in many European countries: Italy, Germany, France, Chile, made a splash in China and the USA, visited Russia and Belarus several times.
In 2012, Los Potros Malambo was invited to participate in the American reality show Q' Viva: The Chosen, which brought together the best dancers, musicians, and acrobats from Latin America to make the "greatest Latin show" with them. In this reality show, the band “Los Potros Malambo" worked with Jennifer Lopez.
After several performances in Los Angeles (USA), the band reached the grand finals, becoming the only South American band to reach this level.
In 2013, the band performed in Chile and at various national folklore
festivals in Argentina.
In 2014, Hernan Pikin invited them to participate in his SIGNUM show, directed by Sean McKeown, director of Cirque du Soleil.
In 2015, they starred in Mora Godoy's Bailando Tango show at the Alvear Theater.
In January and February 2016, they performed at the Teatro Colón in Mar del Plata and at Espacio Clarín with their work Pulsaciones de la Tierra (Pulsations of the Earth), where they received two nominations for the Estrella de Mar Award, as "Best Choreographic Show" and "Best Dance Show".
In May 2016, a new show premiered at the Borges Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Pura Sangre (Pure Blood), which received excellent reviews from the specialized press and the public, and performances were extended until August of the same year.
In July 2016, the Ministry of Culture of the Nation specifically invited them to receive
They participated in the celebration of the bicentennial of Argentina's independence, where they danced for the President of the Republic and the national authorities, which were broadcast on television throughout the country.
The quality of this group's work is so high that in 2017 they became part of a commercial dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Greenpeace Argentina, under the slogan:
"Revolution is accomplished by protecting what belongs to us!"
For the first time, in 2018, the band toured the cities of Russia with the Pura Sangre (Pure Blood) program and after the pandemic, returned with a new program “Go Malambo” (Forward Malambo) on a grand tour of the cities of Russia and Belarus in February 2024.
This year 2025, the Los Potros Malambo group is bringing a new FREEDOM program(Freedom) in the cities of Russia and Kazakhstan.
Based on the traditions of Argentine folklore dance, Los Potros Malambo in the new program enrich their dance with combinations of movements in a modern style, Latin American technique and elements of tango. The energy and power that emanate from the 12 dancers create a stunning visual effect.

The most courageous Argentine Malambo dance, Los Potros Malambo, is danced with a throwing weapon, a bola, consisting of a whip and round stones tied to its ends. Beating time, the dancers deftly juggle bolas, demonstrating the wonders of coordination, dexterity, skill and prowess of the Argentine gauchos.
Searing rhythms, mesmerizing drumming, impressive set design – all this is an exciting show of Los Potros Malambo dancers.
